Announcing Blog Project 2009: Traditional American Values
Ok, this is a little ambitious and maybe a little pretentious. I was thinking to myself the other day about how I believe that liberals do not believe in traditional American values. That this is the great chasm between conservatives and liberals, we see America differently. Those who agree with what I consider core American values, aren’t really liberals. But then it occurred to me that it would be useful to have a reference we could all check and see if our policys adhere to our values. I realize most of these values are imbued in our founding documents but it never hurts to repeat ourselves. Continue reading

Maybe I should just ask simple “yes” or “no” questions!
Ok, now I think it’s just personal. Twice now the President has intentionally pre-empted one of my favorite shows, American Idol, for one of his news conferences. (For the record, Danny Gokey will win!) I mean really! There’s 24 hours … Continue reading

AIG: there I said it!
For the last week, my friend, anamericanidiot, has been blogging (like millions of our closest blogging friends) about the bonuses paid out to AIG executives. I have responded to Idiot’s blogs, but haven’t addressed this subject in the context of my own blog. For that reason (and because the inclusion of the letters AIG in my title and tag will no doubt increase my hit rate!!!), I have decided it’s time to address this subject. Continue reading

Somehow, “loser” seems so inappropriate.
Yesterday, the Tennessee Lady Vols lost in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championships. This loss says less about Tennessee and more about the state of women’s basketball. I was struck last week when I heard an interview with Ms. Summitt asking how she keeps coming back year after year. She said she relishes the role she plays in young women’s lives. She said she and her staff believe they are there to teach more than basketball, they are teaching life lessons while learning the sport. This will be a good lesson for the Tennessee women and I’m sure it will be taught at full volume! Continue reading

Vacation is a NOT a four letter word!
I almost never watch morning television on the networks. Today, however, I had Good Morning America on and they had Deepak Chopra in what they call the “Hot Seat.” Today’s focus was the economy. I am officially renaming this segment to “The Money Guru!” An homage to one of my favorite comedians, Mike Myers’ movie, “The Love Guru.” During “The Money Guru” segment, Robin Roberts points out that GMA got a lot of email heat because they took the show on the road for a week. Her question to Chopra was from a viewer who said they are feeling the same things about simply taking a vacation. Continue reading
These will look great in my credenza!
In case you missed it last week, the British Prime Minister paid a visit to our new President. Gordon Brown represents our closest ally, in the war on terror, for democracy around the world, well just about everything. So obviously, great thought has been spent planning even the smallest detail. Continue reading

What’s the Rush?
The President of the United States, arguably the most powerful man in the world, feels he needs a whipping boy? and that person is a talk show host?!? I mean come on! This is about as petty as it gets. Continue reading

The truth hurts, but so does the dentist.
The government has allocated thousands of millions (that’s billions, in case you’re keeping track) of dollars to try to stem the tide and the tsunami of bad news is still rolling over us. I have detailed in the course of this blog why this strategy of spending won’t work and I believe the Obama administration and his party cohorts know it won’t. Continue reading
