I want you to take a look at: American Solutions – 12 American Solutions for Jobs and Prosperity
So, follow me and see if this makes sense. The senate today passed almost 1 Trillion dollars in new spending, which may or may not have any effect job creation but will definitely have an effect on our economy, whether it is positive or negative. If you have been reading my blogs, you know that I’m a big fan of tax cuts opposed to new spending. We know from history that this kind of government spending has never produced the results we are looking for, and that tax cuts not only produce results but are non-destructive to the general populace. Overreaching government spending creates monolithic government agencies and can be generally destructive to our way of life.
Enter Newt Gingrich. Following Obama’s advice for “American” Solutions (as opposed to Democrat or Republican Solutions), Newt has produced a plan which I whole-heartedly endorse.Ok, so it didn’t hurt that his website is called American Solutions and has been up and running for months now. Please take taime to peruse his 12 point plan. See if this makes sense in the context of a government that is hopelessly in debt and looking to spend more. Bear in mind that although there is usually a slight dip in revenue after a tax cut, eventually the stimulus creates more revenue as the economy continues to grow.
The part you need to follow me on is here: So I’m watching the Grammy’s and thinking about this stimulus bill and the economy in general. During the telecast, Justin Timberlake and T.I. performed a song called, “Dead and Gone.” At the end of the song, T.I. says this, “adversity builds character, character will take you places money can’t, welcome to my road to redemption.” It was an impressive end to a song about his dead friend and how he wants to pursue a new way of life instead of gang-banging. I appreciate the message on one of the larges stages the music world has to offer. I don’t know much about T.I., but that caught my ear. Here it is again, “adversity builds character, character will take you places money can’t, welcome to my road to redemption.” So what does this have to do with the stimulus bill?
“Adversity builds character” – I hope we can all agree this is true. If you don’t believe this, you may be reading the wrong blog. Some say adversity “reveals” character. Either way, I believe that we have a choice when we face hardships. We can sit and wallow or pick ourselves up and keep pushing through till we reach a better situation.
“Character will take you places money can’t” – so my question is: Are we losing our national character by trying to solve our problems by throwing money at them? There is no doubt that we are planning to throw and absolutely unprecedented amount of money at the economy and hope something sticks and whatever doesn’t, doesn’t make the problem worse. To paraphrase Mr. Obama during the oil crisis, we can’t spend our way out of this. Our national character has alway been, “The Land of Opportunity.” This will definitely stifle opportunity.
“Welcome to my road to redemption” – Newt is offering a way out. This is an opportunity for us to embrace national redemption. Please take time to peruse this plan and pass it on to your friends. It’s still not too late to change course.
If a rapper has figured it out, why can’t the rest of us!
